The final round of Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition is slated to get underway in a ceremony in Tehran this evening.
In this edition of the contest, experts in different Quranic fields from Iran, Kuwait, Syria, Bahrain, Iraq, Indonesia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh will evaluate the contenders’ performances.
Here are the members of the panel of arbiters in the men section:
Tajweed: Abbas al-Balushi from Kuwait and Heidar Kasmaei and Masoud Sayyah Gorji from Iran
Lahn: Imad Rami from Syria and Mahmoud Lotfinia and Hassan Mokhtari from Iran
Sawt: Ahmed bin Yusuf al-Azhari from Bangladesh and Muhammad Abbasi and Nosratollah Hosseini from Iran
Waqf and Ibtida: Khairudding al-Hadi from Iraq and Karim Dolati and Hassan Hakimbashi from Iran
Memorization of Quran: Zia al-Haq Minqad from Afghanistan and Mohammad Sadeq Nasrollahi and Mehdi Abbasi from Iran
In the women’s section, Mahboubeh Kateb heads the panel, which also includes Fatimah Kazu from Syria, Fatimah Alwash from Lebanon, Maria Alfa from Indonesia, Mahi Kamaleddin from Iraq, Zaynab al-Makhlouq from Bahrain and Marjaleh Niavarani, Sediqeh Barani, Parisa Mojarad, Seyedeh Fatemeh Mirghiyasi, and Fatemeh Mandegarmehr from Iran.

Quran memorizers and reciters from 110 countries registered for the competition this year and after the preliminary round, 69 contestants from 40 countries have made it to the finals.
The International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is an annual event organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, which attracts Quran reciters and memorizers from different parts of the world.
